Amir Khan ranks Tyson Fury as best heavyweight in world boxing, ahead of Deontay Wilder and Anthony Joshua

Tyson Fury is the number one and most talented heavyweight in the world, according to Amir Khan.

Fury this weekend returns to the ring for the first time since his one-sided June stoppage of Tom Schwarz to take on Sweden’s Otto Wallin in Las Vegas.

Fury revealed to talkSPORT earlier this year that he is due to challenge Deontay Wilder again in February 2020, after their thrilling first bout ended in a draw last December.

And Khan believes that while Wilder may be the more devastating puncher, Fury is the better boxer.

“Fury is the most talented,” the former world champion told the Daily Mail. “Wilder is very dangerous but on the evidence of most of their first fight I can see Tyson out-boxing him over the 12 rounds.

“Just as long as he doesn’t get caught again by a big punch.”

As for number three on his list, Khan says it will depend on the rematch between Andy Ruiz Jr and Anthony Joshua in December.

The Bolton native is hoping his fellow Olympian can pull off the win to claim back the belts he surprisingly lost earlier this year.

“Fury is No.1 and Wilder No2,” continued Khan. “We will know who’s No.3 after Joshua-Ruiz II but I’m among those wondering if it is wise for Anthony to do this immediately.

“I think it might have been better for him to have a couple of easier fights to get his confidence back, especially after being knocked down so often and stopped.

“We’re all wanting and hoping Anthony can pull this off but I’m concerned that we could see the same fight over again.”
