Daniel Sturridge’s barren injury record arguably hit a new level of embarrassment in West Brom’s Premier League clash against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
The striker, on loan at the Baggies from Liverpool was given the nod by manager Alan Pardew, only to come off after just three minutes with a suspected hamstring injury.
The 28-year-old, who has been dogged with injury problems throughout his career, felt a twinge after a seemingly innocuous passage of play. It is not known how serious his latest setback is.
Bookmaker Paddy Power even tweeted how they would be refunding goalscoring markets because Sturridge’s time on the pitch was so brief.
Football fans have got used to the idea of Sturridge going off injured and this one certainly attracted many types of comments on Twitter.
