The Old Trafford boss cupped his ear in the direction of the Juventus supporters at full time
Jose Mourinho has revealed he mocked Juventus supporters with his celebration after they insulted him and his family during Manchester United’s 2-1 comeback win on Wednesday.
The Italian champions took the lead through a superb Cristiano Ronaldo volley, however Juan Mata scored an 86th minute free kick and then Alex Sandro bundled United’s last-gasp winner into his own net.
As the final whistle blew, Red Devils boss Mourinho strolled into the centre of the pitch, cupped his hand to his ear and taunted the home fans.
“I’m a professional,” Mourinho explained in his post-match interview with Sky Italia.
“They insulted for 90 minutes. Me, my family and also the Interista [Inter Milan supporters] family.
“At the end of the match I just made the gesture that I wanted to hear them louder.”
Jose Mourinho is not a popular figure at Juventus due to his treble winning success with bitter rivals Inter Milan.
The Portuguese manager elaborated to BT Sport: “I didn’t insult them, I just made a little thing.
“I respect Juventus, I respect their players, their manager. I’m really, really proud of my boys.”
