The Reds flyer appears to have put his Champions League final injury heartbreak behind him

Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah has boosted his and Egypt’s World Cup hopes by making a return to group training.

The Reds flyer has stepped up his rehabilitation from the shoulder injury he suffered in their Champions League final defeat to Real Madrid last month.

Salah made his return to full training on Wednesday

There were fears the 25-year-old, who scored 44 goals in all competitions for Liverpool this season, could miss the start of the tournament.

But it appears the forward has put his injury heartbreak behind him by making a return to full training.

Salah was pictured taking part in a training session on his own with a coach last week.

But the Egypt national side confirmed on social media on Wednesday that their star man had made his full return to first-team training.

Salah suffered shoulder damage in the Champions League final on May 26 after a tangle with Real Madrid’s Sergio Ramos, which saw the Liverpool man exit the game after just 30 minutes.

After initial fears, the Professional Footballer’s Association, Football Writers Association and Premier League player of the year would be ruled out of the World Cup, the Egyptian Football Federation announced it did not expect Salah to be sidelined for more than three weeks and he was named in the squad for the tournament in Russia.

Egypt’s World Cup campaign begins on Friday, as they face Uruguay in Ekaterinburg.

The sides are joined in Group A by hosts Russia and Saudi Arabia, who meet in the tournament’s first match a day earlier.

Egypt’s second game is on Monday against Russia in St Petersburg.
