Liverpool star Roberto Firmino labelled the ‘best in the world’ after making immediate impact against Chelsea in Super Cup

A lacklustre Liverpool found themselves a goal behind at half-time of their UEFA Super Cup clash against Chelsea in Istanbul.

Olivier Giroud opened the scoring after striking the ball beyond Adrian with the Reds nowhere near the levels they can achieve in the first-half.

Giroud’s goal put Liverpool in trouble

Manager Jurgen Klopp took action at the break, sending No.9 Roberto Firmino on to clean up Liverpool’s mess.

And within three minutes of coming on, the Brazilian helped Liverpool get on level terms after latching onto Fabinho’s flick before Sadio Mane bundled the ball home.

After that Liverpool were much better going forward with Firmino at the centre of it all, helping set up chances for the likes of Jordan Henderson and Fabinho.

He provided the assist for Mane’s second goal in extra-time with good work down the left hand side.

However, the game went to penalties and Firmino duly stuck his away to help them win the match.

It’s clear Liverpool are a better team with Firmino playing but his second-half performance demonstrates just how vital he is to their success.

And these Liverpool fans took to Twitter to gush about him, one fan aptly saying: “Firmino is the system.”
