Alex Sandro is set to move to Old Trafford in a €50m deal, according to reports in Italy
Manchester United are close to completing a €50million deal to sign Juventus left-back Alex Sandro, according to reports in Italy.
It is widely claimed Jose Mourinho is looking to strengthen his defensive options this summer, as well as clear out some of the dead wood from his squad and secure top class replacements.
One of the players expected to leave is English left-back Luke Shaw, who has struggled for regular game time under Mourinho.
And, according to reports by Turin-based newspaper La Stampa, Brazilian defender Sandro is poised to move to Old Trafford in his place.
It is also claimed the deal will see Italian defender Matteo Darmian to move the other way, with the 28-year-old falling down the Red Devils’ pecking order this season.
Sandro has claimed three Italian doubles since arriving at Juventus from Porto in 2015.
He was wanted by Chelsea in the last summer and January transfer windows, but the Blues could not agree a deal with Juve.
Instead, it seems their Premier League rivals Man United have won the race, with claims the transfer could be confirmed ‘in the next few days’.
The transfer window in England officially opened on Thursday, which means clubs are free to get their summer business started a little earlier than normal.
