Alex Pereira – the only man to knock out Israel Adesanya – produces frightening one-punch KO at Legacy Fighting Alliance

Alex Pereira’s transition from the world of kickboxing to MMA should certainly concern the very best light-heavyweights in the world.

The reigning GLORY Kickboxing middleweight champion signed to fight in the Legacy Fighting Alliance and moved to 3-1 on Friday night with a typically brutal knockout.

For those that don’t know, the Brazilian is the only man to knock out reigning UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya before the New Zealander transitioned to MMA himself.

Detonating his famous left hook to perfection, Pereira delivered one of the most devastating knockouts of the year when he stopped Thomas Powell dead in his tracks in the first round.

As the shot ricocheted off his skull, Powell slumped despondently to the canvas and landed on his face as he lay prone.

Pereira’s celebrations were understandably muted as it took his opponent a full five minutes to sit up after regaining consciousness. According to reports, he was not even aware he had even fought, although thankfully he left the cage on his own accord.

The 33-year-old had not fought in MMA since 2016, but trains with Glover Teixeira and holds a decision win over Adesanya as well as the stoppage.

“I’m very happy to be in MMA,” Pereira said through an interpreter. “I’ve been training with Glover Teixeira for 3-4 months, and I’m happy with the results.”
