CLEVELAND — The Browns again have uncertainty at the quarterback position.
Coach Mike Pettine said he did not know whether McCown’s collarbone was broken, but McCown did have X-rays after the game. He will have more tests Tuesday morning.
“We’ll know more [Tuesday],” Pettine said.
Manziel did not play Monday. He was demoted to third string after a video of him partying at an Austin, Texas, bar during the bye week appeared online and he lied to coaches about when it was filmed.
Pettine said the demotion was a matter of trust and accountability. Whether he can look past those issues if McCown can’t play remains to be seen.
Manziel did not meet the media after the game Monday.
Davis took over for McCown and threw a game-tying touchdown pass with 1:47 left. He had the Browns in position to kick a game-winning field goal on the last play of the game, but the kick was blocked and returned by the Ravens for the game-winning score.
“It felt good to play,” Davis said. “I felt comfortable.”
He finished 7-for-10 for 77 yards and the 42-yard touchdown pass.
“Really good job by him,” center Alex Mack said.
“For a guy who hasn’t really taken any snaps with us, he did a nice job,” tackle Joe Thomas said.
Davis said he would wait and see what happens next.
“You never want to play with a guy getting hurt,” Davis said. “That is never how you want to get into the ballgame. But we all know that happens. Come back in [Wednesday], get ready to go and see what happens.”
