Begovic has been one of Chelsea’s best performers since being thrust into the limelight following Thibaut Courtois’ three-month spell on the sidelines through injury; however, he has quickly become a player of the past. With Courtois starting at Stamford Bridge two days ago, despite being far from full fitness, the 0-0 draw with Tottenham Hotspur looks to have been Begovic’s Premier League farewell to Blues supporters. While, however, Courtois was in no man’s land for the Cherries’ winning goal, his performance in the first half did give a hint of the confidence that Chelsea had been missing at the back. Improvement in this position or not, though, the Belgian won’t save their season alone.

The Cherries clinched three points late on in the clash, leaving Jose Mourinho’s future – once more – the subject of intense debate.
