Clermont Auvergne 34-29 Ospreys: Strettle strikes to claim win but Welsh side fight for two bonus points

Clermont Auvergne saw off a spirited Ospreys fightback to claim a bonus-point 34-29 win in Pool Two of the Champions Cup and remain unbeaten at home in European competition since 2008.

Englishman David Strettle scored two brilliant tries for the French club, with centres Aurelien Rougerie and Wesley Fofana also crossing the line, to extend Ospreys’ record in France to just one win in 15.

Fly-half Camille Lopez kicked 10 points and Morgan Para added two conversions, as the home team claimed four points for the win, plus a bonus point.

In reply, the visitors scored tries through Justin Tipuric, Eli Walker, Sam Parry and Tom Habberfield, with Dan Biggar kicking three conversions and a penalty, to collect a potentially valuable two bonus points in defeat.
