Pele has tipped England to perform strongly at Euro 2016
Brazilian legend Pele has cast his predictions for Euro 2016, claiming England are good enough to reach the final of the tournament this summer.
The Three Lions start their campaign on Saturday, taking on Russia at the Stade Velodrome looking to start the tournament in positive fashion, and you can listen to live commentary of the clash on talkSPORT.
Roy Hodgson’s men are favourites to progress out of their group, and if they top the table, there is a good chance of a fairly easy passage to the quarter finals.
However, they are not considered likely victors of the entire competition due to the strength of their biggest rivals.
The likes of Germany, Spain and France are expected to progress further in the tournament that England, but Pele believes the Three Lions can reach the final – along with likely finalists La Roja.
Speaking to talkSPORT2’s Ian Stafford, the three-time World Cup winner said: “Normally you have the big names, [like] England and Germany.
“England has lots of new players, but I think maybe they’ll be one of the teams in the final.
“But to win the tournament is very difficult to say now.
“The level is very, very equal. You have to be the team that has a little bit more luck than the other ones.
“If I have to imagine one or two [winners] in this moment, then Spain and England.”
Following the clash against Russia, England take on Wales and Slovakia looking to progress from group B as table toppers.
