The homegrown Toffee, 34, suffered two injury-ravaged seasons before sustaining a new knee complaint in this summer’s pre-season that has kept him out of the current campaign.
“Getting the injury in pre-season in Singapore was a bit of a shock,” Hibbert told the Everton official website.
“It’s not nice for a person to get an injury but to get it at a crucial time in pre-season, when there is not long left before the season starts, was a sickener.
“I’ve had quite a few injuries over the years now and it is frustrating. This was one of the cruelest ones because I’d had a good few weeks under my belt in pre-season. But that’s football.
“I’ve progressed well and have just started training with the lads again. I just need to get that sharpness back in my legs and in my mind but that will come in the next couple of weeks.”
