Federer No. 1 in Forbes earnings list; sky is blue

Fourhand is the Daily Spin’s occasional roundup of various hits and misses on tour.

DRINKING BUDDIES  Mashable’s “Drinking With Dan” series sits down veteran newsman Dan Rather, now 83, across from a slew of celebrities. The first guest/guinea pig: one Andy Roddick. Come for the zingers; stay for Rather asking Roddick of Serena Williams‘ life, “Who’s this Drake character?”

WELL FED  To the surprise of no one, Roger Federer has landed—for the ninth consecutive year—in the No. 1 position among tennis-playing money makers. His sum: a cool $67 million in on- and off-court earnings.

ICYMI  Speaking of Fed, you may have missed Ben Adams’ “How to Write a Roger Federer Think Piece” when it originally published at Slate on September 11, and that would be a shame. Check out steps 1 through 6, which finishes with the advice to “Exit gracefully.” You know, just like Federer himself did in two major finals this year against Novak Djokovic.

PERILOUS?  In the latest news about the ballyhooed Pirelli calendar set to drop November 30, we learn that Serena may be going topless, if from behind, for Annie Leibovitz’s lens.
