Nissan Motorsport has confirmed that James Moffat will part ways with the team at the end of the 2015 season.
The second generation racer joined the team at the beginning of the 2013 season, and won the team’s first and so far only race at Winton later that year.
According to a statement from the Nissan squad, Moffat will leave the team “to pursue a driving opportunity with another team”.
“We thank James for his efforts over the past three seasons,” said team boss Todd Kelly.
“Since joining Nissan Motorsport at the start of the 2013 season, James has achieved the best results of his V8 Supercars career. The team and James are both committed to working together to achieve the best possible results at the final four events of this season.”
While not yet confirmed, the likely outcome is that Moffat will join Scott McLaughlin at Volvo, replacing the outgoing David Wall.
Davison also part of musical chairs
It would also appear that Will Davison is on his way out of Erebus Motorsport. Rumours surfaced at Bathurst placing Will Davison in contention for a shock switch from Erebus to Tekno for 2016, reports of which surfaced yesterday.
Davison’s management declined to comment on the driver’s 2016 plans.
Davison is currently two years in to a big money, four-year contract at the former Stone Brothers-run squad, but is understood to be looking to make the switch to Tekno, a customer Triple Eight team that has proven to have good hardware over the last two seasons.
