League One news: Swindon Town snap up former Watford youngster Jamie Calvin

Swindon Town have landed former Watford striker Jamie Calvin on a one-year deal.

Calvin, who spent time as part of Watford’s academy, had drifted into non-league and had spells at Daventry and Hampton & Richmond last season.

But now the 20-year-old has been handed another crack at the professional game by Swindon boss Martin Ling, who is keen to bolster his attacking options.

Swindon hit the jackpot when they signed little-known bricklayer Charlie Austin from Poole Town in 2009.

And the League One strugglers will be hoping Calvin can make a similar impact during his time at the County Ground.
