Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy responds to reported Arsenal interest

Jamie Vardy has admitted he is not worrying about his future whilst away with England, despite the knowledge that Arsenal are hoping to sign him.

The English forward made his first appearance at Euro 2016 on Thursday, coming off the bench at half-time and scoring the equalising goal in the 2-1 win over Wales.

This is another chapter in Vardy’s miraculous story, coming after his 24 goals led Leicester to the Premier League title – breaking the record for scoring in consecutive matches in the process.

This form has seen Vardy’s future at the King Power Stadium placed in doubt, with the Gunners keen to bring him to North London in a bid to mount a serious fight for the title next season.

A move was not completed prior to the start of the Euros, and Vardy has admitted he has not even thought about his domestic future whilst focused on the tournament.

“It’s been easy (to shut that out),” he said, when asked about a potential move to the Emirates.

“I’m here to concentrate and focus on England and that’s all I’m going to be doing and now we’ll just get back on that training field and focus on the next match.”

Vardy will be hoping that his lively performance in the comeback win over Wales will be rewarded with a starting spot in the final group game against Slovakia on Monday.
