Liverpool transfer report: Reds target Portugal defender as replacement for Real Madrid-linked Alberto Moreno

Liverpool are lining up Lorient defender Raphael Guerreiro as a replacement for Alberto Moreno should he leave for Real Madrid.

Reports this week claim the Spanish giants are interested in bringing the left-back to the Bernabeu in January, with the player’s agent doing little to quash the rumours.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is aware Moreno may find a move back to his homeland difficult to turn down and is preparing a contingency plan.

According to Mercato 365, Klopp is a big fan of Guerreiro and tried to sign him during his time in charge of Borussia Dortmund.

Gurreiro’s current contract at the French club expires in 2017 but Liverpool are understood to be preparing an offer that neither Lorient or Guerreiro can turn down.

Despite being born in France, Gurreiro has chosen to represent his father’s country and has three caps for Portugal at senior international level.
