Manchester United working on Jadon Sancho deal as Paul Pogba responds to new contract claims

Manchester United are in talks with Borussia Dortmund over a deal for Jadon Sancho.

The Red Devils have been tracking England international Sancho for the past two seasons and failed in a summer move last year, with Old Trafford chiefs reluctant to match the German club’s £108million asking fee.

Sancho hit eight goals and added 11 assists this season despite a string of injury setbacks

However, they have now moved one step closer to finally signing their target having struck a deal with the player himself.

According to trusted transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano, Sancho has agreed personal terms on a five-year deal at Old Trafford.

United are yet to agree a transfer fee but have started negotiations with Dortmund, who now value the forward at around £80m.

‘Manchester United reached an agreement with Sancho’s camp on personal terms until 2026. Jadon is not creating any problem,” Romano wrote on Twitter.

“Negotiations now starting with Borussia Dortmund. €95m price, NO agreement yet.”

Sancho broke onto the scene with a phenomenal campaign in the 2019/20 season, hitting 17 goals and adding 16 assists in 32 matches.

The 21-year-old had a difficult start to last season due to a few injury setbacks, but ended the campaign in electric form as Dortmund clawed their way back into the top four to cement a Champions League spot.

While United are working on a deal for Sancho, they also hope to tie Paul Pogba down to a new deal.

The World Cup-winning midfielder is approaching the final year of his current contract and has pushed to leave in the past.

But he has cut a much happier figure at Old Trafford under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and United are hopeful the 28-year-old will stay.

Speaking in his homeland on Thursday, Pogba insisted his only focus was on the Euros with France and maintained he had not entered any discussions with the club.

“I have one year left on my contract, everyone knows that,” Pogba said in an interview carried by RMC Sport. “There have been no concrete proposals for extensions. I’m still in Manchester.

“After the season there was the vacation, so I didn’t sit down with the managers and coach. I’m focused on the Euros.”
