Rugby World Cup 2015: New Zealand edge fierce South Africa contest to book final place

New Zealand will have the chance to defend their Rugby World Cup title after grinding past South Africa in a 20-18 semi-final victory in the driving Twickenham rain.

The Webb Ellis Cup holders squeezed the life out of South Africa through a territorial masterclass, with Jerome Kaino and Beauden Barrett claiming crucial tries.

Springboks fly-half Handre Pollard slotted five penalties with Patrick Lambie posting another late strike, but the All Blacks still edged into next week’s final, with Dan Carter landing a total of ten points with the boot.
