Peter Sagan (Tinkoff) and Fabian Cancellara (Trek-Segafredo) proved in the final moments of Milano-Sanremo why they’re pros and we’re not. Both went full counter-steer drift to avoid a crash just before the sprint. It was a high-speed moment that could have ended the sprint hopes of both riders, but lightning-quick reflexes and impressive bike handling skills kept both upright.
Fernando Gaviria (Etixx – Quick-Step) later took responsibility for the crash. The young sprinter was perfectly positioned for the finale, and was in tears as he crossed the finish line. There’s always next year, Fernando, and the year after that, and the year after that. You’re only 21.
Now check it out in slow-mo, and keep an eye on Cancellara’s rear wheel.
