Scotland scrum-half Henry Pyrgos will miss the start of the Six Nations after undergoing wrist surgery.
Pyrgos has been ruled out for about four months, and looks set to miss the games against England, Wales and Italy in February.
The 26-year-old made only one appearance at the World Cup, but captained the team to victory over the United States.
A statement from his Glasgow Warriors club read: “Scrum-half Henry Pyrgos exacerbated a wrist injury while away with Scotland and has undergone surgery at Spire Leeds Hospital, whilst under the care of the Scotland medical team. He is expected to be out of action for around four months.”
