SEE IT: Bouchard, who will skip Fed Cup, gets trendy haircut

Why shake it off when you can shave it off?

On the heels of her Australian Open ouster (thanks, Aga), Eugenie Bouchard has ditched her trademark long locks in favor of a trendy haircut that features the side of her head shaven.

She had the follicle hacking done at Miami Beach’s Oribe salon.

No word yet on what this means for sponsor photo ops or the like. Bouchard is a finely-tuned social media machine, so chances are that no still- or moving-image obligations are on deck.

Bouchard fell, 6-4, 6-2, in the Aussie Open’s second round to future semifinalist Agnieszka Radwanska. Days after losing, she mourned that she wasn’t still in the competition, posting an image to Twitter of a screen featuring the Serena Williams-Maria Sharapova quarterfinal match.

Bouchard has announced that she won’t compete in Fed Cup play next week in Quebec City in light of a shortened offseason due to injury, presumably a reference to the fall and ensuing concussion she sustained in a dark room at the U.S. Open in September. Canada is set to face off against Belarus in that contest, and while Bouchard took a bit of heat on social media for the decision, she also noted that she has competed for her country in recent years and looks forward to doing so again in this summer’s Olympics in Rio.

As for the Aussie Open, she’ll be back. After all, “Melbsy” makes for quite the affectionate pet name for a city.
