Slaven Bilic slams the late penalty decision that saw Chelsea equalise against West Ham

The referee awarded a late penalty at Stamford Bridge for a foul on Ruben Loftus-Cheek

West Ham manager Slaven Bilic has slammed the late penalty that saw Chelsea equalise at Stamford Bridge.

Manuel Lanzini opened the scoring for the Hammers before Andy Carroll restored their lead in the second half following Cesc Fabregas’ equaliser.

The England international’s strike looked to have sealed three points for the visitors, but a penalty in the 89th minute, converted by Fabregas, saw Bilic’s men travel home with just a point to add to their tally.

Victory would have seen West Ham leapfrog Manchester City to fourth-place.

“It makes it even more difficult [to finish in the top four], but we are not thinking about that: are we 4th, are we 5th?

“We are not, thank goodness, fighting 16th or 17th or 18th, you know, this is a much better situation.

“We are not thinking about that; we are thinking about only the 90 minutes that we deserve more from.

“We didn’t deserve that second goal. A goal like that.

“On the line? Come on,” said Bilic on the penalty.

“It wasn’t on the line, it was obvious. It was way, way out of the line – nowhere near the line.

“It was easy because it wasn’t a slide, when you start outside and then slide inside – no, it wasn’t like that.”
