Cape Town – Outgoing Japan coach Eddie Jones believes that New Zealand will be too strong for Australia in Saturday’s Rugby World Cup final at Twickenham.

Jones, who is Australian, says that while he expects the All Blacks to win their second successive tournament, he does expect the final to be a close affair.

“I think New Zealand will make it home in less than five points,” Jones told the Rugby World Cup website

“It will be close.”

Springbok coach Heyneke Meyer had said before this past weekend’s semi-final that this All Black side was the best to have ever played the game, and Jones found some merit in that argument.

“If you just look at the stats, then they are (the best ever),” Jones said.

“Their Test match record is so good; no other team in the sporting world – not just rugby – have a record like them. So if you just look at that, they’re certainly right up there with the best of them.”

Jones is on his way to South Africa soon where he will be taking charge of the Stormers during their 2016 Super Rugby campaign.
