Rugby | Loffie Eloff relishing new role in America

Cape Town – Former Lions coach Eugene ‘Loffie’ Eloff is
looking forward to his new journey as rugby coach in America.

Eloff was recently appointed head coach of the Austin Huns
Rugby Club.

The Huns are based in Austin, Texas and will from September compete
in the new professional league established in the United States.

“I’m really excited by this new challenge, I really
like to be at the beginning of a new adventure,” Eloff told the club’s official

“USA has the potential to become one of the most successful
rugby nations, and having the opportunity to bring my knowledge here will be
fantastic. I’m looking forward to working with the Huns Management, and all of
the Austin Huns volunteer coaches to help them grow the club and sport.”

Notable rugby accomplishments for Eloff include leading the South
African under-19 team to world championship victories in 2003 and 2005.

Owner Richard Osborn commented: “Having a world class
coach is an amazing opportunity for our players and club. We are attempting to
build a path from the youth to the highest level with a clear vision, and we
are looking to work closely with USA Rugby to offer an option for Eagles and
future Eagles to have the best club platform possible. We want to create
coaching clinics with Eugene for our Huns coaches, but also for any other
coaches that want to continue to learn.”
