Sport24.co.za | Varsity Cup gets go-ahead

Cape Town – This year’s Varsity Cup rugby tournament will go ahead, but matches will be played at neutral stadiums and not at university grounds.

The tournament was put on hold due to several violent student protests across the country, but according to Netwerk24, the competition will resume next Monday.

Cape Town Stadium and FNB Stadium in Soweto are believed to be some of the grounds that will host the matches.

Varsity Sports will issue a press statement on Thursday where the exact details of the matches will be announced.

The last round of matches took place on February 22 and the games not played the past two weeks will be contested during the university holidays as well as the Easter weekend.
