Stuart Lancaster gone from England rugby job: 'He's a scapegoat so the fat cats remain at the top'

Stuart Lancaster has left his position as England’s rugby union head coach by mutual consent, but there isn’t much of a consensus among rugby fans on whether it is the right thing for English rugby.

England infamously failed to qualify from the 2015 World Cup pool stage, the first time the Red Rose had fallen at the first hurdle, in the process becoming the first host nation to be knocked out at that stage.

The recriminations are ongoing, with England centre Sam Burgess sensationally returning to rugby league after criticism of Lancaster’s decision to select the former Bath player, and now the man who took the national team’s head coach role in 2012 has paid the price himself for World Cup failure.
