On Saturday, March 12, 2016, Terry Flanagan (30-0. 12 KOs) successfully defended his WBO Lightweight title for a second time with a 12-round unanimous decision victory against Derry Mathews (30-10-2, 2O KOs) at the Echo Arena in Liverpool, United Kingdom.

Flanagan won with scores of 117-110, 117-110, and 115-112.

Flanagan, a 26-year-old native of Machester, United Kingdom, was fresh off of his stoppage victory against Diego Magdaleno and cemented his status as a top-level Lightweight with his victory tonight.

Matthews, a native of Liverpool, United Kingdom, who had fought Flanagan in 2012, did not find the redemption he sought for in a rematch.
