Tottenham are ‘confident’ that they will make Paulo Fonseca their new manager, it has been reported.
Spurs have been on the lookout for a new boss since Jose Mourinho’s shock departure, the Portuguese was sacked less than a week before their Carabao Cup final date with Manchester City.
They appeared to be getting former Inter Milan, Juventus, Italy and Chelsea boss Antonio Conte last week, however, talks broke down.
But Spurs’ search appears to be over with transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, via Gianluca Di Marzio, claiming Spurs will appoint Fonseca on a three-year contract.
Romano adds that Fonseca is ‘appreciated’ by Fabio Paratici, who is set to be announced as Spurs’ new sporting director.
Paratici has signed a three-year deal with Spurs, claims Romano.
Fonseca, who’s managed the likes of Porto, Braga and Shakhtar Donetsk, has been out of work since leaving Roma last month.
The 45-year-old would thus be doing a swap with predecessor Mourinho, who will take over as Roma boss in the summer.
But before he goes to the Italian capital, the Special One will be working with talkSPORT four our Euro 2020 coverage.
Jose Mourinho has signed to talkSPORT for the network’s extensive coverage of this summer’s European Championship. Jose will be with listeners across the schedule from talkSPORT’s live Euro GameDay programming to regular slots at Breakfast which will include pre-game insight and an exclusive post-game phone in for talkSPORT listeners.
