When the Blues beat Manchester United to the signature of Pedro, it looked to be one of the deals of the summer. Unless, however, the Spaniard has a blistering second half of the season, he will be far from one of the best pieces of business before the start of Chelsea’s title-defence. The form of those around him at Stamford Bridge appears to have rubbed off on his own performances, and time will only tell if he made the wrong decision to leave the comfort of the Camp Nou.

The Premier League is beginning to take shape, with it looking to be one of the most predictable seasons in its history.

Leicester City, who spent just £17.6m in the summer transfer window, are currently leading the way at the top of the table, as Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez put the likes of high-earners Wayne Rooney, Diego Costa and Sergio Aguero to shame.

And with the big-guns of England’s top flight struggling for consistency, it seems that their heavy spending in the summer transfer window hasn’t paid off.
