West Ham academy prospect earns pro contract

West Ham have handed highly rated teen Marcus Browne his first professional deal at the club.

The 17-year-old midfielder, who has caught the eye for the Under-21s this season, joined the Hammers when he was eight.

And he has moved steadily through the club’s ranks and he is now hoping to follow in the footsteps of fellow youngsters Reece Oxford and Josh Cullen and make his mark on the first team.

He told the club’s official website: “I’ve played with both Reece Oxford and Josh Cullen so it’s good to see where they’re at. I’m pleased for both of them and it gives us encouragement that young players can do it, so I’ll keep plugging away and hopefully I’ll be at the top soon.”
